• The following undergraduate qualifications are offered:

BACHELOR OF ADMINISTRATION (BADMIN)

The Bachelor of Administration degree is only offered at the Westville campus. It is a three-year full-time qualification, which brings together the disciplines of Public Administration, Human Resources and Business Management. This inter-disciplinary approach of the programme promotes the study of governance at all levels through carefully designed modules of the relevant disciplines.

  • MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

National Senior Certificate (NSC) Degree with English and Life Orientation level 4 and Maths level 3. Minimum 28 NSC points.

BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (BBA)

The degree is offered at the Pietermaritzburg and Westville campuses. It is a three to four year qualification offered through evening classes. The BBA is accepted by all the major industries and public utilities in KwaZulu-Natal, and has gained recognition throughout southern Africa and the United Kingdom. MINIMUM 

  • MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

 NSC Degree with English and Life Orientation level 4 and Maths level 3. Minimum 28 NSC points. Career areas include specialisation in General Management, Economics, Financial Management, Information Systems, Marketing Management, Media, Human Resources Management, Public Relations and Training.

BACHELOR OF COMMERCE – GENERAL (BCOM)

This degree is offered at the Pietermaritzburg and Westville campuses. It is a three-year full-time qualification that allows for specialisation in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Human Resources Management, Information Systems, Management, Marketing, Supply Chain Management and Public Administration.

  • MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

NSC Degree with English and Life Orientation level 4 and Maths level 4. Minimum 30 NSC points.

BACHELOR OF BUSINESS SCIENCE (BBuSc)

This degree is offered at the Westville campus. It is a four-year full-time qualification that allows for intensive specialisation in Economics, Finance, Human Resources Management, Information Systems, Management, Marketing or Supply Chain Management.

  • MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

NSC Degree with Maths level 6 and English and Life Orientation level 4. Minimum 33 NSC points.

BACHELOR OF COMMERCE – ACCOUNTING  (BCom (Acc)

This degree is offered at the Pietermaritzburg and Westville campuses. It is a three-year full-time qualification that prepares graduates who wish to train as Chartered Accountants for the one-year Bachelor of Commerce Honours (Accounting).

UKZN is registered with the South African Institute for Chartered Accountants (SAICA), and provides courses in accordance with the curriculum approved by SAICA.

  • MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

NSC Degree with Maths level 5 and English and Life Orientation level 4. Minimum 32 NSC points. Other career areas include Chartered Accountant (CA) specialising in Auditing, Taxation, Financial Management and Accounting.

THE BACHELOR OF LAWS (LLB) DEGREE (full-time and part-time study)

The LLB is a four-year undergraduate degree. Students who already have a three-year degree, such as a Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Arts, with Legal Studies as a major subject, can complete the LLB in two years.

  • MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

• A National Senior Certificate with degree admission; English Home Language level 5 or English First Additional Language Level 6; • Mathematical Literacy level 5 or Mathematics level 3; • Life Orientation level 4; minimum composite Academic Point Score 32 excluding Life Orientation.

ALTERNATIVE ACCESS PROGRAMME

BACHELOR OF COMMERCE (EXTENDED CURRICULUM) (B COM 4 GENERAL)

The B Com requires NSCDeg with APS of 30, English (HL or FAL), Mathematics and LO Level 4. Applicants who have not met Level 4 Mathematics but have Level 3 Mathematics will be streamed into the foundation year.

Three-year B Com degree extended over four years.

The one year foundation provision follows a full foundational model with students completing six foundational modules.

BACHELOR OF COMMERCE IN ACCOUNTING (EXTENDED CURRICULUM) (B COM 4 ACC)

B Com Accounting requires NSC-Deg with APS of 32 with English (HL or FAL), Mathematics Level 5 and LO Level 4. Applicants who have not met Level 5 Mathematics but have Level 4 Mathematics will be streamed into the foundation year.

Three-year B Com Accounting degrees extended over four years.

The one year foundation provision follows a full foundational model with students completing six foundational modules.
