Ms Asande Sikhosana who was recognised as one of UKZN’s Most Inspiring Students at last year’s Spotlight on Greatness: Most Inspiring Student Awards, has graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Supply Chain Management.
UKZN’s Most Inspiring Students Awards honour the exceptional achievements of students who inspire greatness. Finalists in the four categories – academics, sport, clubs, and societies – are selected based on nominations from the students’ peers, a testament to the inspiration they provide to those around them.
Sikhosana has been actively involved in leadership roles, such as serving as Deputy President of Enactus UKZN, as well as First Year Experience Mentor, and an Ambassador for the College of Law and Management Studies.
“Receiving accolades such as the Dean’s Commendation and the ‘Most Inspiring Student’ Award reaffirmed my belief that hard work and passion can create opportunities beyond academics,” said Sikhosana.
“I served in Enactus UKZN for two years, where I worked on projects that combined business principles with social impact. As a Peer Educator, First Year Experience Mentor, and College of Law and Management Studies Ambassador, I have supported students’ academic and personal growth while promoting the values of excellence, collaboration, and service. I learned the value of hard work, resilience, and education as a tool for empowerment.”
Originally from Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, Sikhosana is currently working as an intern in the Operations Department at LETCEE – a non-profit organisation in the province that aims to improve the lives of young children from underprivileged communities.
“University life taught me discipline, adaptability, and the importance of teamwork through academic projects and leadership roles. These experiences built my confidence, exposed me to diverse perspectives, and allowed me to inspire and mentor others. My future plans include building a career in supply chain management and marketing, with a focus on developing sustainable business practices that benefit both companies and communities. I am also working towards establishing initiatives that empower young people through skills development and mentorship,” said Sikhosana.
