ABOUT THE DISCUSSION
In the world of higher education, there is currently debates evolving on what is the future of higher education provider as a result of the rapid change in technology. It is understood that all higher education providers must undergo change to stay relevant. So we as academics know where we came from with respect to how classes were taught, but what are we progressing towards. Is it a hybrid model with technology, or are we approaching a time that artificial intelligence may just take over the role of teachers and the role of academics redefined with changing times?
This public lecture intends to challenge the general audience of the of traditional building blocks of higher education. The session will argue that adjustment is inevitable, but change is without doubt essential with the coming of technological transformations so as to give rise to a new model and approach to delivery of courses in the higher education sphere. Institutions that are best able to adjust to change will be able to transform themselves to cater for the masses and their expectations in the modern era.

ABOUT THE DISCUSSION
Professor Sid Nair is the Executive Dean/Dean Learning, Teaching & Student Experience at Victorian Institute of Technology. His primary role looks at the quality of Learning, Teaching and the Student Experience. Prior to taking up the role he was the Executive Director of the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC), Mauritius. Nair is well known internationally in the area of quality in higher education. His training as a chemical engineer has brought about his extensive lecturing experience in the applied sciences in Canada, Singapore and Australia.
However, his interest in helping students succeed in applied sciences has led him to further specialise in Science and Technology education, generating his many works in improving student life and career. Prior to joining TEC, he was Professor of Higher Education Development at the Centre for Education Futures at the University of Western Australia and Interim Director and Quality Advisor at the Centre for Higher Education Quality, Monash University.
