Curriculum Specialist in the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Office of the Premier Ms Nomava Keswa graduated with a Master of Commerce in Human Resource Management in May.
Based in the Chief Directorate: KZN Provincial Public Service Training Academy in the Sub-Directorate Curriculum Materials Development and Quality Assurance, Keswa is responsible for curriculum development, management, design and implementation of training programmes aimed at upskilling staff at all levels. She said the knowledge acquired during her studies enhanced the understanding of performance management.
‘I conduct needs assessments, craft curriculum frameworks, and collaborate with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to create high-quality learning materials aligned with industry standards. My research will assist public sector employees to grasp the day-to-day activities of performance management and development.’
Her study entitled: Understanding perceptions regarding Performance Management and Development System (PMDS) in public service institutions in KwaZulu-Natal was supervised by Dr Anisha Ramsaroop.
‘The findings will inform discussions on the adequacy of the PMDS in the public sector and enable departments to address the identified gaps. They will also be discussed with management in the Office of the Premier,’ Keswa added. Furthermore, the study lays the foundation for further scholarly research in this field.
Keswa is currently pursuing a PhD.
