QuantifyYourFuture is excited to invite you to our first ever Virtual Internship in partnership with Absa, FirstRand, FNB and Nedbank – the opportunity of a lifetime!

Our Virtual Internship Programme will give you exposure to real life work experience – with a specific focus on new and emerging careers – in a virtual format. You will have the opportunity to develop the core skills needed in the world of work – what the World Economic Forum refer to as the 4 C’s:

What is QuantifyYourFuture?

Launched in March 2019 by leading employers, and hosted by SAGEA, QuantifyYourFuture exists to promote Management, Quantitative, Computational and Data Science career paths. Our goal is to support universities in promoting these qualifications by showcasing degree options at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and, ultimately, the range of career opportunities available to graduates.

How will the virtual internship work?

With the COVID-19 Pandemic still ongoing, and learning from the enormous success of SAGEA’s first VirtualGradExpo in 2020, our Virtual Internships offer the perfect opportunity for you to explore the world of Quants from the comfort of your couch, and gain invaluable experience while doing so!

The internships will run over a number of weeks during July and August 2021, targeted at students in their 2nd year of a 3-year programme, or 3rd year of a 4-year programme. You will be introduced to the technical concepts of the discipline you’re studying or have an interest in pursuing.

QuantifyYourFuture classifies quantitative careers into five interest areas, namely Analyse, Construct, Innovate, Interrogate and Utilise, which you can learn more about here. With this in mind, we will be offering Quantitative/Data Science Internships and Data & Risk Analytics Internships, aligned with students who have an interest in analysing, constructing, innovating or interrogating business solutions.

A Virtual Internship will enable you to explore the world of Quantitative Sciences, specifically:

During the internship, you will be immersed in a variety of sessions and masterclasses, specifically designed to give you the richest experience possible.

Week 1

During the first week of the internship, you will spend most of your time ‘online’ and therefore need to be available for between 6 – 8 hours per day.
During this time, each sponsor will assign you a case study which you will work on during the subsequent ‘offline’ weeks.
You will also attend a range of Competency Masterclasses, designed to deep dive into the 4 Competencies, as well as other fun and engaging sessions.

Weeks 2 – 5

Following the ‘live’ week, you will spend the rest of your internship largely ‘offline’ – working on the case studies assigned to you in the first week of the programme.
You will join us online periodically, with bi-weekly Q&A sessions with your Mentors and Talent Reps, as well as a weekly Masterclass from our partner sponsors.
All of these sessions will be hosted in the late afternoons to accommodate your other work/study commitments.
Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be awarded a certificate and the opportunity to join our learning community with regular interactions with our academic and business community and access to future opportunities
