The University of KwaZulu-Natal’s (UKZN) Graduate School of Business and Leadership (GSB&L) has been recognised with a Golden Arrow Award at the Professional Management Review (PMR) Africa Business Excellence Awards Breakfast, in the category of Accredited Business Schools in South Africa Offering Master of Business Administration (MBA) programmes.
The recognition follows PMR Africa’s annual national survey, where employers evaluated MBA graduates and students in the workplace across key attributes including academic knowledge, leadership abilities, innovation, ethical business conduct, strategic management, communication skills, and the application of knowledge in the workplace.
The awards ceremony commenced with a welcome address by PMR Africa CEO, Mr Johan Hattingh, who highlighted the importance of recognising institutions that contribute to developing business excellence and leadership capacity in South Africa.
Keynote speaker Mr Gary Tintinger, speaker, trainer and coach, emphasised the significance of the awards in celebrating organisations that demonstrate commitment to quality, impact and continuous improvement.
“These awards celebrate organisations that continue to demonstrate excellence, innovation and commitment to making a meaningful impact in their respective fields,” said Tintinger.
The Golden Arrow Award serves as an affirmation of the quality and relevance of the GSB&L’s MBA programme, which continues to equip professionals with the knowledge, skills and capabilities required to navigate complex business environments and contribute meaningfully to organisations and society.
Interim Head of Doctoral Programmes at the GSB&L, Professor Jobo Dubihlela, said the recognition reflects the dedication of the School’s academic staff, students and stakeholders.
“Today’s accolade is a testament not only to the dedication and excellence of our academic staff and students, but also to the strength of our programme design, the rigour of our scholarship, and our commitment to developing ethical, innovative leaders for the African continent and beyond.”
Dubihlela added that the award reinforces the GSB&L’s commitment to postgraduate excellence, research-led teaching and industry relevance.
“This award inspires us to deepen our partnerships with industry, sharpen our curriculum for 21st-century skills and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and continue mentoring the next generation of transformational and responsible leaders who uphold integrity and honesty.”
This recognition highlights UKZN-GSB&L’s commitment to postgraduate excellence, research-led teaching and professional relevance.
